Heat Transfer Laboratory

This Lab deals with Modes of heat transfer viz conduction, convection and Radiation. Conduction is the mode of heat transfer predominatly takes place in solids. Convection takes place between solid body and fluid in motion, and Radiaition is an electromagnetic phenomenon.

  • As part of conduction we will calculate Thermal Conductivities of various materials.
  • In convecrion we will calculate heat transfer coefficiencts in Natural and forced convections, in single and multi phase flows.
  • In Radiation we will calculate Stefan Boltzman constant
  • In addition We will also calculate Effectiveness of heat exchangers.

This knowledge of the Heat transfer lab is very much useful in various fields like  Power generation, HVAC, Process industries, Electronic cooling etc.
